- If the above step has been taken and refund has not been received, Red Way customers can contact the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) who oversees the rules and regulations of charter operators. The DOT at its Office of Aviation Consumer Protection can be contacted at (202) 366-2220.
Airline Boarding & Security
We are traveling with a special needs child who has Downs Syndrome. He has never flown before and sometimes has a problem waiting in line (anxiety) and in situations which are new. Does TSA or the Airport Authority have any guidance on what to do?
TSA offers TSA Cares, a helpline number designed to assist travelers with disabilities and medical conditions, prior to getting to the airport. Travelers may call TSA Cares toll free at 1-855-787-2227 prior to traveling with questions about screening policies, procedures and what to expect at the security checkpoint.
When a passenger with a disability or medical condition calls TSA Cares, a representative will provide assistance, either with information about screening that is relevant to the passenger’s specific disability or medical condition, or the passenger may be referred to disability experts at TSA. TSA recommends passengers call approximately 72 hours ahead of travel so TSA Cares has the opportunity to coordinate checkpoint support with a TSA Customer Service Manager located at the Lincoln Airport when necessary.
The hours of operation for the TSA Cares helpline are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. EST, excluding federal holidays. After hours, travelers can find information about traveling with disabilities and medical needs on TSA’s website. To learn more click HERE.
What are TSA’s security screening requirements? What are the "Trusted Traveler" programs?
Please see information provided by the Transportation Security Administration for screening requirements.
Please see information provided by the Department of Homeland Security for Trusted Traveler programs.
Will the airlines require a photo ID?
If you have questions regarding ID requirements or anticipate a possible problem contact your airline or the Transportation Security Administration.
Is a passport required for international travel? Can a passport be processed through the airport or the airlines?
Passports are required for international travel. Passports are issued by the U.S. Government. You can contact the Lincoln passport office at 1-402-473-1695. Remember to ask your travel agent about immunizations for foreign travel. Shots and an immunization record may be required.
Will audio-visual equipment, film, or software be damaged by x-ray screening at the airport’s security checkpoints?
No. Film and film inside cameras, recorded or blank videotapes, and computer software will not be damaged by screening. Security personnel at these checkpoints may ask you to open and turn on your laptop computer. Additional information is available from the Transportation Security Administration.
What about weapons? I am a legitimate registered owner of a handgun.
Never attempt to take any weapon beyond a security checkpoint, on your person, or in carry-on bags. You will be detained and airport police and the Lincoln police will respond. You will be subject to arrest and subsequent federal indictment. The same cautions apply to any souvenirs or war memorabilia. Contact your airline about transporting a weapon in your checked baggage. Carrying a concealed handgun within the terminal building which is not properly packaged for airline transportation is prohibited.
